Hello Putney! I have just come back from a long holiday, where I unfortunately didn’t have the time to update this website and blog.  There are so many things on my mind that I want to write about, but, at the same time, there are so many other things waiting for me to do.

During the last week of my holiday, I started to suffer from back pain. I have a long history with back pain after injuring it as a teenager when I used to do Judo. My back often causes me troubles, and, as a web designer who works constantly in front of a computer, I also suffer from stiffness in my neck.  Anyway, without boring you with all of my personal problems, I decided I wanted to learn more about the treatments available for back and neck pain. One of the most popular is chiropractic.

After hearing about the chiropractic procedure, I watched a lot of YouTube videos to find out more. Even though the neck adjustment videos made me hesitate, I decided to make an appointment at the Putney Chiropractic Centre. What I realised is, that there is absolutely no need to hesitate or be scared of chiropractic treatment.

So first, let me talk to you about the Putney Chiropractic Centre. The minute you enter the centre, you will be met by a smiley faced staff who will give you all the information you need to help you feel better. Because it was my first visit to the clinic, Dr Sophie Rumbelow took my full health history. By looking at my past and present issues, she was then able to perform a number of orthopaedic, neurological, and chiropractic tests when looked at how my nervous system and spine functioned. She finally took four different X-rays, which took five minutes to develop. She then showed me the results and explained the issues I was having.

The most interesting part of the session was the adjustment. I can wholeheartedly say that it works and will make you feel better. I have seen first hand the amazing results that can be had from chiropractic care, and plan on receiving further treatment.  If you are suffering from pain or discomfort as a result of an injury, don’t hesitate to book in for a chiropractic consultation. The Putney Chiropractic Centre comes highly recommended from me.

As I said above, before I had the treatment, I read and watched lots of videos (strongly recommend watching 'New Chiropractic Client Videos') about chiropractic. Below is some of the information I would like to share:

Chiropractors specialise in adjusting the spine to treat what are called neuro-musculoskeletal problems. While many people just think of visiting a chiropractor for pain in the lower back or shoulders, the systems of bone, muscle and joints in the back are complex and misalignments or injuries to these systems can cause pain in various other parts of the body, like the arms, legs and jaw. Poor posture and other spinal issues that chiropractors can help with can even cause stress to the internal organs in the torso, leading to rarer but more serious problems. It is said that most people do first try a chiropractor because of an injury, pulled muscle, or unexplained back pain, but that the treatment can often resolve other problems like regular headaches.

When many people envisage what will happen at the clinic it can look somewhat painful, with lots of cracking going on. This is how they make it look in sitcoms, but actually the adjustment isn't painful, and you experience immediate pain relief as your back becomes better aligned. The cracking sound is just caused by air bubbles forming and popping in the joints, and is completely safe and harmless (some people even find the cracking sound and sensation pretty satisfying!). If you want to see some more realistic videos of the kind of things chiropractors do there are some good ones on this YouTube channel.

Another thing not everybody knows is that chiropractors undergo as much university and medical training as doctors, and are officially recognised as primary care practitioners. The treatment is safe, effective, and you will be treated by a highly qualified professional. I can certainly recommend the team at Putney Chiropractic first hand, and can't speak highly enough of Dr. Sophie Rumbelow who treats me.

If you want to give Putney Chiropractic Centre a try, I would recommend taking advantage of the same offer as I did, where you get half price treatment (regardless of whether it is your first visit or a regular visit) if you book a consultation for between 12 and 2pm. This means that if you work nearby, you could have your session during your lunch break and save 50% at the same time!

To finish, I'd like to share a nice quote they have on the wall at the Putney Chiropractic Centre: 'Health is not merely the absence of disease; it is the balance of mind, body and soul'.
